心定法师：武术与书法的禅意融合，心定法师，法号释心定，1964年出生于安徽临泉的一个军人世家。自幼酷爱武术，12岁便入选山东武术队，17岁进入国家武术队，18岁即荣获全国武术冠军。然而，他并未止步于此，1988年拜天津玉佛苑方丈演龙大和尚为师，开始深入学习佛法，并将武术与书法相结合，创造出独特的书法风格。1990年，他在河南洛阳白马寺受三坛大戒，正式步入佛门。

心定法师的职业生涯丰富多彩。2000年，他担任横店影视城大智禅寺宝積寺上院住持；2005年，成为杭州佛学院导师；2006年，担任中国书法艺术研究院副院长，并同年担任中国西泠印社雅集顾问。2021年，他担任人民大学艺术学院书画研修班导师、中国美院禅意书法副研究员、中国特型演员常委、中国明星书画院名誉副院长、中国书法家协会浙江考级中心副主任，并被中华人民共和国文化部和旅游部评选注册为国家一级美术师。2023年，心定法师的作品应邀入编北京荣宝斋正刊，并应邀出席全球外交官锦绣中华城市文化行，与联合国秘书长潘基文合影留念。同年7月，他受亚太体育联合会总会武博联盟诚邀，担任书画专业委员会主席；11月，受邀担任世界非物质文化遗产研究院特邀院士。2024年1月，经非物质文化遗产保护发展组委会评审，授予“2023年度非遗技艺传承大师奖”荣誉称号。心定法师在记者采访时表示，国家加强非物质文化遗产保护和传承，积极培养传承人，让非物质文化遗产绽放出更加迷人的光彩，可喜可贺。他相信，包括非物质文化遗产在内的中华优秀传统文化通过创造性转化和创新性发展，一定能激活其内在的强大生命力，在新时代焕发新的光彩，增强我们的文化自信，让我们在世界文化激荡中站稳脚跟，永远记得“回家之路”。 心定法师笔下的书法形象，或拟坐或拟立，姿态各异，形神兼备，都同样显露出慈悲之意。驻足禅书作品前能听见穿越千年的梵呗声，能看见尊者开悟众生的瞬间。以书说法的方式，让无数在红尘忙碌迷茫的人于笔墨的氤氲里，寻到了内心的自性。法师挥毫于转折间，处处暗合佛法妙谛，让有人深受触动，不禁心有大彻。精湛的笔墨长卷，是闭关守心的镜像，字红如莲，端正似塔。以书法而证苦行，以觉悟而通达，以修润墨，已经把众生的苦都写在心上，写成了解脱渡人的乐土宣言！书若法宝，让我心无挂碍，无有恐怖！

心定法师是一位在书画与佛法修行上均有卓越成就的人物，他以独特的禅书体将佛教的智慧融入到书法艺术之中，成为为当代禅书第一人，通过书画作为媒介，旨在传播佛法真谛，引导众生寻求心灵上的解脱。获得诸多赞誉，心定法师始终保持谦逊的态度，认为自己所做的不过是修行的一部分。依旧坚持日常的修行习惯，保持着对佛法的虔诚态度。在他看来，书法的秘密不仅仅在于技艺本身，更重要的是内心的修为以及持之以恒的努力，正如他所展示的那些因长年累月修身正心的功德已经成为禅书的灵魂一样，书法是人品的镜子，是智慧的外延，是真善美的结晶。书如其人，果然真实不虚。

Master Xin Ding: The integration of Zen in martial arts and calligraphy Venerable Xinding, Dharma name Shixin Ding, was born in 1964 into a military family in Linquan, Anhui Province.

From childhood, he developed a passion for martial arts, joining the Shandong Provincial Martial Arts Team at age 12 and becoming a member of the National Martial Arts Team by 17. By 18, he had already won the National Martial Arts Championship.

Undeterred by his achievements, he became a disciple of Venerable Yanlong, Abbot of Tianjin's Yufu Yuan Monastery in 1988, where he began studying Buddhist teachings and innovatively combined martial arts with calligraphy to develop a unique artistic style.

In 1990, he received the Three Ordinations at White Horse Temple in Luoyang, Henan Province, formally entering monastic life.

Venerable Xinding has led a remarkably fulfilling career.

In 2000, he became the abbot of Dazhi Chan Temple's Baoji Monastery at Hengdian World Studios. By 2005, he was appointed as a mentor at Hangzhou Buddhist College. The following year, he assumed dual roles as Vice President of the China Calligraphy Art Research Institute and Advisory Advisor to the Xiling Seal Engravers' Society.

In 2021, he held multiple distinguished positions: mentor for the calligraphy and painting workshop at Renmin University's School of Arts; associate researcher in Zen-inspired calligraphy at China Academy of Art; standing committee member for China's Special Type Actors Association; honorary vice president of China Celebrity Calligraphy Academy; deputy director of Zhejiang Certification Center of China Calligraphers Association; and was officially certified as a National First-Class Art Master by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China.

In 2023, Venerable Xinding's works were featured in the official publication of Beijing Rongbaozhai, and he attended the Global Diplomats' "Splendid China" Cultural Tour, taking a commemorative photo with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

In July of the same year, he was invited by the Martial Arts and Culture Alliance of the Asia-Pacific Sports Federation to serve as Chairman of its Calligraphy and Painting Committee. In November, he was appointed as a Distinguished Academician at the World Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Institute.

In January 2024, after evaluation by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection and Development Committee, he was awarded the "2023 Master of Intangible Cultural Heritage Skills Inheritance Award" as an honorary title.

During an interview, Venerable Xinding expressed his approval of the nation's efforts to strengthen the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, noting that actively cultivating successors has allowed these traditions to shine with renewed brilliance.

He firmly believes that through creative transformation and innovative development, China's outstanding traditional culture—including intangible heritage—will undoubtedly revitalize its inherent vitality. This will enable it to radiate new luster in the new era, bolster cultural confidence, and help us stand firm amidst global cultural turbulence while always remembering our "path home."

The calligraphic figures in Master Xinding's works—whether seated or standing, each posture vividly embodying compassionate spirit.

Standing before his Zen calligraphy, one can hear the sacred chants echoing through millennia, witnessing the enlightened moment when the venerable master enlightens beings.

Through this art of writing and teaching, countless weary souls lost in worldly chaos find their inner nature within the ink's mist.

Master Xinding's brushwork reveals profound Buddhist truths at every turn, profoundly moving those deeply touched to attain great enlightenment.

His masterful scrolls mirror spiritual seclusion, with characters as red as lotus blossoms and as upright as pagoda spires.

Through calligraphy to realize ascetic practices, through awakening to attain enlightenment, and through refining ink to write the suffering of all beings into his heart—this becomes a manifesto for liberation and salvation.

Calligraphy, as a sacred treasure, liberates my mind from worries and fears!

Master Xinding is a distinguished figure in both calligraphy and Buddhist practice. Through his unique Zen calligraphy style, he integrates Buddhist wisdom into the art of calligraphy, establishing himself as the foremost practitioner of contemporary Zen calligraphy. Using these artistic mediums, he aims to spread the true essence of Buddhism and guide sentient beings toward spiritual liberation.

Despite receiving numerous accolades, Master Xinding maintains humility, considering his work merely a part of spiritual practice.

He continues to adhere to daily cultivation routines while preserving his devout attitude toward Buddhism.

In his view, the secret of calligraphy lies not just in technical skill but more importantly in inner cultivation and persistent effort. As demonstrated by his works, the merits accumulated through years of self-cultivation and moral refinement have become the soul of Zen calligraphy. Calligraphy serves as a mirror reflecting one's character, an extension of wisdom, and a crystallization of truth, goodness, and beauty.

The saying "calligraphy reflects the person" proves true without exaggeration.
